Frequently Asked Questions (FAqs)

Are the “Launch puzzles” included in the base game?

There are 16 launch puzzles that will queue for download once you open the game for the first time. You can quit the app or put the device to sleep without interrupting the downloads.

I’m missing puzzle pieces.

Oftentimes, the missing puzzle pieces are behind you. Try turning around while in the game to locate the missing pieces. You can also use the broom icon (hold until the circle is complete) below the puzzle shelf - this will retrieve all pieces that might have been placed far away.

Can I play with hand tracking?

Yes! You can play the entire game with Hand Tracking on Quest 1/2/3/Pro. Here’s a handy guide on getting started.

Is there MulTIplayer?

Yes! Currently, Multiplayer is available for all Quest, PS VR2, and Pico 4 players. Read all about it here.

How does the PSVR2 Free upgrade work?

If you own the PS VR version of Puzzling Places, you can upgrade to the PS VR2 version for free. All Puzzle Packs (DLC) are eligible for free upgrade as well.

Here is a quick guide on how to get the free upgrade:

  1. Sign into your PSN account on the PlayStation Store

  2. Search for Puzzling Places in the store

  3. Checkout as normal. Instead of a purchase price, the game will show up as “free.”

  4. To upgrade your DLC packs, follow the same process in the store or hub page. All Puzzle Packs that you already own on PS VR will be listed as “free.”

    • Alternatively, you can open Puzzling Places and navigate to the in-game store tab. The Puzzle Packs you own will show up as “free” and downloadable from the in-game store tab.

What is the High Quality vs High FPS mode?

This is a setting exclusive for the Quest 3 verison of Puzzling Places where players can decide whether they’d prefer higher quality visuals or higher FPS in performance-demanding scenarios (high piece count puzzles, mixed reality). Refer to this walkthrough video for a more in-depth understanding of this setting.

I lost all my Puzzling progress and savegames! What should I do?

If you either uninstalled Puzzling Places or somehow lost all puzzling progress, you might be able to restore the savegame files by uninstalling and re-installing Puzzling Places in your Quest!

Follow the guide here.

How do I backup my puzzles and Savegame files?

Quest: Your Quest should be continually backing up your puzzle progressions via the Cloud Backups feature. If you’d like to check or recover your cloud backups, follow the guide here.

However, if you’d like to manually backup your downloaded puzzles and their savegame files, refer to the instructions on our Backups page.

PS VR2: Your PlayStation stores all your savegames locally in your PS5. PlayStation also offers a cloud backup feature for all PlayStation Plus members which stores your savegame data in the cloud. For more information, refer to this page.

How often are new puzzle packs released?

New Puzzle Packs are released the first Thursday of every month! More info here.

Are there any free puzzles?

We definitely have plans to release more free puzzles. Check out some of our previous free puzzles, Holiday Special, Halloween puzzle, and Blue Temple puzzle. More on the way!

Will the DLC packs be available on PICO 4?

Yes - as soon as it’s possible for us to add DLC, we certainly plan to make all the DLC available on PICO 4.

What happens if I delete a puzzle?

By selecting the trash icon on the puzzle in-game, this uninstalls the puzzle. Your puzzle progress remains so you can re-download the puzzle and continue playing where you left off. This gives you the ability to free up storage space.

Where do I buy the Puzzle Pass subscription?

You can subscribe to Puzzle Pass in-game by launching Puzzling Places, navigating to the Store tab, selecting the “more info” on the Puzzle Pass status bar, and selecting “Subscribe.”

More information about Puzzle Pass here.

My puzzle progress is not saving. How can i fix it?

The way the saving works is by giving the app the correct permissions when first launching the app (a pop up came up asking if you'd like to give Puzzling Places permission to read and write to your Quest).

What most likely happened is you selected "Deny". Not to worry because we have a way to enable it afterwards as well.

How to fix it

Permissions.jpg
  1. In the Oculus Home menu, select Apps and scroll to Puzzling Places - Beta

  2. Click on the three dots on the Puzzling Places - Beta image to open the menu and select permissions.

  3. In the menu, click Storage and set it to allow.

  4. That’s it, the warning should be gone and save games working!

What happens to the puzzles if I cancel my Patreon membership?

You get to keep everything you download! Meaning, if you download all available puzzles during your Patreon membership, you can keep playing them for as long as you wish
